Yesterday, Sunday, we visited another church, "Kotima" Baptist Church, in the village of Kotima. This church is approximately 18 miles away from Zomba, deep in the African bush.
In Kotima I met a group of joyous people, let by Pastor Fraction Chabwera. We had a wonderful time of fellowship, worshiping our Lord Jesus.
I enjoyed seeing how organized they were, especially when it comes to the work with the children. This is something I am not seeing very often in Malawi, kids are almost always ignored in the church service. In Kotima, though, one of the men took them out, prepared some songs and Bible verses and then they had a nice little program with them.
After the church service, we enjoyed some good Malawian dish, and then proceeded visiting another pastor who has had a small accident. He was working out in the field, and ashes were blown in his eyes. Since then, he can barely see and his left eye is very irritated and maybe even infected. It looked so bad, we had to bring him over today, Monday, so he can be seen by a good doctor at a local private clinic. At the hospital he was only given some mild pain killers, but I hope he will now receive proper treatment.
We are at the beginning of the rainy season and temperatures are very high at times. Yesterday, in the village, it was close to 99°F, one of the highest I've experienced this year.
In preparations for the rains, we've taken a couple rolls of plastic bags, something that we can use as a temporary solution so that the water does not destroy the building.
Pray for our Brothers and Sisters in Kotima. May they represent Jesus without shame in that place.
Pray for us!
