Sunday, January the 24th, we visited another new church, "Mbidi" Baptist Church in the village of Bwanali. This church is located some 15,5 miles from Zomba.
When we've arrived to this church we've soon noticed two things that saddened us. First of all, the state of the building is precarious, its walls were destroyed by what seems to be a combination of water and strong winds. Of course, the problem is these walls were not built properly to begin with, the cause being the abject poverty so prevalent in the rural Malawi.
On the topic of poverty, the second thing we noticed that saddened us was the fact just about all the men were not there. The corn plants are almost dead, the rains are not coming as they should, and the heads of the families have gone to the lake to make some money from fishing. This little profit will help them survive. Not thrive and not even have a decent living. Only survive.
We understand what they are going through and we completely support them in the fact they want to work and not beg, but the church is also suffering as the leaders are gone. I understand that the situation will be the same until the month of March.
That church service was understandably short; the ladies sang a couple of songs, the women's choir had its time and then I preached the Word.
Pray for the churches of Malawi.

Pray for us!
Pray for Malawi!
