Today was a day of celebration in Kachere because we had a Baptism Service. Although the weather was cool and the water was cold and muddy, the 29 believers made this important step in their walk with the Lord.
The baptism is important because it was ordained by Christ. It is also part of the Great Commandment we are all called to fulfill. It does not save nor produce eternal life, but rather it shows publicly that the transformation already happened on the inside. The baptism is the symbol of the union with Christ, in His death, burial and resurrection.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."
Matthew 28:19-20
"So those who received his word were baptized,"
Acts 2:41
Of those 29 Brothers and Sisters that were baptized today, 7 were from the orphans at our Feeding Centre. It blesses my heart to see the Lord at work in our church in Kachere; with the exception of the year 2015, we've had baptisms every year since the beginning of the church. This tells me that God works and people are changed. It blesses my heart even more to see the children we take care of respond to the Gospel. In 2013 we had the very first baptism after the start of the Feeding Centre and 4 of the kids asked to be baptized then. Since then and at every baptism service, at least 2 or 3 orphans want to do the same.
I was thinking today, what would've happened to these children had we not invested in them? Where would they have been on a day like this? Let us not forget the importance of this ministry. Let us not forget the importance of the sponsorships for them. Your regular support help us keep our vision: to take care of their material needs so that we can reach their spiritual needs.
Today it was a reminder that this vision produces results and only God deserves all the glory!
I would like to ask you to keep praying for the ministry in Kachere. Very soon, we will have to expand the building of the church, because the number of the people attending every Sunday exceeds the number of seats available. Every Sunday, at least 20 people have to stay outside in order to give room for the guests.
